Berlin Intensive 2-Week Course
After the Prague program ends, continue your experience in Europe by attending an intensive 2-week course in Berlin from August 1 -15, 2010. Students earn 3 US/ 6 ECTS credits by taking F2718 German Politics in a Changing World. Morning lectures and discussions are supplemented by afternoon excursions to historical places in the city of Berlin, screenings of German movies and meetings with German journalists and politicians. The course is designed as an introduction to German politics over the last 60 years and relates the historical developments in post-war, West-, East-, and reunified Germany to global and international developments over the same time. Students live apartment-style in Berlin's trendy neighborhoods and experience the city as a real 'Berliner', not a tourist.
UNIVERSITY COURSES We offer specially designed courses which focus on issues of global importance. Each course is both interactive and challenging. Participants obtain an introduction to leadership during F2701: Philosophies of Leadership course. You may also choose (1) elective from the following courses: CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMUNITY SERVICE Work with members of the Czech community on service projects. These activities are not only rewarding, but allow you to put theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom to practical use. FILED TRIPS Visit the Czech countryside for a team building retreat. Later in the program, raise your awareness of human tragedy by visiting Terezin, former concentration camp during WWII. SPEAKERS Get first-hand advice from leaders in business, politics, education, and the public sector. WORKSHOPS Learn practical skills, such as public speaking techniques, how to write business plans, and, most importantly, how to create and implement a project in your home community.
